I couldn't agree more Fleda. In a world obsessed with quick fixes, it's easy to forget that true, lasting health is a slow, intentional process. Every small action compounds. Happy to connect with you!
All good tips. For me, #13, including protein in every meal, has been a lifesaver. It's the easiest way to short-circuit binge eating and keep myself on track. If I have a meal that's only carbs or fat, I get snack-y and want to eat the world.
I agree, Tim! I always feel much more full when I eat protein- and it keeps me full for a lot longer, too. It's HARD to overeat protein but EASY to overeat carbs.
Thank you very much Peter! I’m happy to see you all liked it. And yes, all of the wonderful professionals that joined shared their tip and it’s nice many agree on the importance of mental health :)
I agree, Peter! Our mental and physical health are so deeply intertwined. As a Clinical Mental Health Counseling student, that connection is the main focus of my research and trajectory going into this field 🙂
Just restacked this great article, + wanted to also share here to thank you Sara again for allowing me to add to these tips along with the other health experts- all spot on with their insights! (my tip is #8)

I agree Sara, and because I was not following directions on the first pass on the assignment, I ended up with another full article from my tip #8, so sharing here as well. To learn more about how to build your body armor with fitness, here's a deeper dive with the 'why and how to'! Characters vs words, it's all about the details! https://achievebalance.substack.com/p/fitness-builds-your-body-armor
A lot of this hit home for me, especially the part about stress vs. purpose. I’ve had times when I was grinding non-stop, chasing money or stability, thinking stress was the enemy. But looking back, the times I felt most alive weren’t stress-free—they were when I was fully locked into something meaningful. Writing my books, building my agency, pushing myself creatively—those were intense, but they weren’t draining. They fueled me.
I was honored to be included in this post with so many health and wellness experts! Each person's advice and wisdom is so valuable to the community, and sharing it this way shows both the uniqueness and the common threads at the same time 🫶
Just scanning this spoke to me! I’ll read more soon. For me connecting with others whether friends or casual kindness at a store lights me up. And I agree with a sense of purpose. Vital for happiness and wellbeing 🥰. Thank you!
I love that this resonated with you! Human connection, whether deep friendships or everyday moments of kindness, has a profound impact on our wellbeing. And yes, having a sense of purpose gives our days meaning and direction. Thank you for sharing your light!
Hi Sophie, Have you ever heard of Northstar Clubhouses? They are located around the country and assist those coming out of hospitalization, creating community and assisting in employment opportunities.
Your tips are very reasonable and easy to follow. I feel like I know most of them, but tend to forget them when life gets in the way. Can you condense to 5 most vital tips to post on my refrigerator? Thank you.
I'm glad you found them helpful Cynthia. I believe the best approach is a personal one. Maybe I need to be reminded of five specific things, and you need a completely different five. The most valuable tips will be the ones that meet you. ❤️
